Here’s another excerpt from that old Smashwords interview I tucked into a couple of weeks back.

 

The question this time was, “Where do your ideas for characters and plots come from?”.

To which I answered, “No idea. You think I jest, but it’s true. The less I try dreaming up ideas the more easily they come to me. And of course there’s the last two or three minutes just before you nod off to sleep when your head fills with stunningly great material and you tell yourself you’ll make a note of all that when you wake up in the morning …”

And that’s all so true. Bizarrely, less effort equals more output. I’m sure that breaks some law of physics, but there we have it, proven in action time and again.
